End User Acceptance of Real-Time Registry Interfaces

BACKGROUND:
The author was involved in the development of real-time HL7 interfaces between clinic management software and immunization registries. Several interfaces have been implmented or are in the process of implementation.

OBJECTIVE:
This presentation is to describe the operation of the integrated real-time HL7 interface, to present performance data, user acceptance of the user interface, and to discuss factors that make a successful interface.

METHOD:
Performance data were collected through application logging, and summarized. End user representatives were interviewed to determine how effective the real-time interface was and how the users accepted the interface.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The attendee should learn what factors make for successful real-time interfaces with Immunization Registries. Performance data may provide guidelines for future system design.
