Susan Anderson1, Justina Kubasiak1, Maureen K. Murphy2, Amanda Wilson1, and Katie Reed1. (1) Partners In Health Systems, PO Box 249, 5789 Widewaters Parkway, Dewitt, NY, USA, (2) Partners in Health Systems, LLC, 5789 Widewaters Pkwy, Dewitt, NY, USA

Learning Objectives for this Presentation:

By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to design a targeted intervention when immunization registry activity decreases.

Background:

Since 1998 Partners in Health Systems has managed and maintained regional registries across Upstate New York. With immunization registries, utilization and participation will rise and fall due to a variety of factors that are inherent in provider offices. What do you do to get lagging participants back up to speed? When an office encounters barriers to participation, a process of intervention must be implemented to assess the barriers and needs of the office to bring them back to a fully functional registry participant.

Setting:

New York State Regional Registries a part of New York State Immunization Information System

Population:

Over 600 participating HealthyShot users

Project Description:

Recognizing that the environment is dynamic in nature it is possible for participation to decrease or temporarily cease. Partners in Health Systems has implemented a process of designing interventions to bring the lagging office back up to speed. The intervention process involves phone calls, site visits, in-services, office flow planning and continued monitoring.

Results/Lessons Learned:

All medical offices face challenges that often results in a lack of registry participation. If recognized and caught early these offices can successfully be worked with to achieve a fully operational registry participant.
