PS80 IIS: Capacity to Capture Immunization History Outside of the Pcp's Office

Background:
Historically, the Physician office has been considered the gold standard for vaccine related data collection. Data collected in those environments are entered into the Registry, manually or via data exchange, and are placed into the clients official immunization record. As Registries matured in their relationship with providers, the providers reported that they often would utilize data collected from external partners. A number of external stakeholders were identified and engaged to model a business process by which that data could be collected and utilized within the Registry. As a result of those efforts, the Registry was redesigned to allow for the capture of immunization data in environments outside of a providers office and to; share data collection efforts, access client data, and utilize client reporting functionality present within the system.

Setting:
Various public health settings including clinics, daycare, school, WIC, counseling and testing, and educational settings.

Population:
Client/Individuals that are seen in locations that are external to physician office settings (non-vaccine provider).

Project Description:
To develop a methodology within the IIS/Registry that will allow the collection of client data external to a provider office. This system functionality must be flexible enough that it can facilitate both Manual and Automated data entry, allow for the ability to manage the state of approval of the data being collected, manage that approval capacity, and maintain the streamlined and efficient ability to manage client data.

Results/Lessons Learned:
This presentation will/can provide a visual (live) demonstration of the resulting Registry functionality including but not limited to; managing the tiered access rules, demonstrating the levels of access, and demonstrating the flow of client immunizations across a representative entities. Presentation will also informally highlight some efforts specific to the Department of Education and accommodating FERPA.
