In this presentation, we will explore the steps necessary to build and maintain bidirectional community-campus partnerships when creating, implementing, disseminating and evaluating communication, marketing and media practice with local communities. Morehouse School of Medicine Prevention Research Center has been recognized as a leader in using evidence-based and community-based participatory approaches through the successful engagement of communities in research design and dissemination of health information in media platforms. This partnership has increased communities understanding and prioritization of health issues for better health outcomes; increased their commitment to sharing health information locally using these platforms and has decreased the divide between academia and the community. In this session, we will describe processes used to engage our community partners in assessing their health needs, which has led to the creation and dissemination of health information through various communication channels.
