A discussion of efforts to improve preconception health and health care by using different approaches including providing data to guide targeted interventions and to serve as a baseline for evaluation; analyzing how women's pregnancy intentions and health-related behaviors are related to their subsequent pregnancy status and health-related behavior change; and by implementing a preconception care program within an urban teaching practice to quickly reach a high risk population.
