The purpose of our presentation is to describe the technical strategy used to harmonize syndromic surveillance data exchange requirements with national standards and interoperability efforts (the HHS Office of National Coordinator and Public Health Information Network). This panel will discuss the current status of standardization activities including the development of functional requirements, domain concepts and vocabulary, and testing and certification activities.
