Tutorial – Lab LOINC and RELMA This tutorial will present an overview of the LOINC standard with emphasis on its use within public health. The presentation will focus on Laboratory LOINC with particular emphasis on microbiological and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. A detailed exploration of the functionality of the Regenstrief LOINC Mapping Assistant (RELMA) will also be presented including tips and techniques on the proper mapping of local test catalog terminology to LOINC. Both manual and automated mapping techniques will be demonstrated as well as tools for the maintenance and update of local terminology maps. Scenarios describing the use of LOINC in Public Health Laboratory Messaging will be discussed as well as the relationship between LOINC and SNOMED in the HL7 message structure.
