In an ideal world systems would be designed to be interoperable from the beginning.  However, in Florida, legacy systems have been able to interoperate through the use of integration software. This presentation will cover the steps that need to be taken to further PHIN Compliance and set the stage for integration including the use of meta-data, data quality issues, data sharing agreements, and working with regional health information organizations (RHIO) and electronic health records (EHR).  This presentation will explore the critical standards and foundations that must be in place to demonstrate PHIN compliance and will offer ideas for implementation in a variety of settings.
