Despite incredible advancements in informatics science and application over the last several years, informatics professionals continue to have difficulty communicating the importance of their work throughout public health agencies and to critical stakeholders.  Communication is a critical component of gaining buy in and obtaining resources to support informatics as a core competency for public health.
In this session members of the Joint Public Health Informatics Task Force (JPHIT) and the National Center for Public Health Informatics will explore communication strategies and techniques that can assist participants in effectively communicating their informatics work.  This interactive session will offer participants opportunities to develop clear, concise communication messages (e.g., elevator speeches) that articulate outcomes of importance to key stakeholders through an exploration of State and local public health efforts to engage stakeholders in their jurisdictions in support of informatics efforts and how these efforts have impacted public health practice.
