52 out-of-treatment, methamphetamine-using MSM enrolled in a two-week, real-time text messaging intervention.  Four hundred pre-written text messages were framed from theoretical perspectives and grouped according to participant profile to provide education, social support, and referrals for healthier, prosocial behavioral change to reduce drug and sexual risk behaviors. Participants completed a computer-based assessment at baseline, 2-month follow-up, and provided urine samples. Preliminary findings indicate reductions in both drug and sexual behaviors from baseline to 2-month follow-up and suggest that a text messaging intervention among this population is both feasible and promising; further research is needed.
