The prevalence of STDs in racial and ethnic populations throughout the United States African Americans and American Indians/Alaska Natives are at substantially higher risk of STDs. In 2007, African Americans accounted for 70% of the reported gonorrhea cases, and almost half of the chlamydia and syphilis cases. In 2007 American Indians/Alaska Natives had the second highest rate for gonorrhea and chlamydia; and the third highest rate the incidence of primary and secondary syphilis. This presentation will include epidemiological analyses focusing on the differences in rates across groups.
