Background: NIH Institutes, like other federal agencies, as a part of their mission, have the need to communicate and disseminate research information to the public. Aligned with the federal digital strategy, we have adopted content services as a means to accomplish this part of our mission.
Program background: This part of the panel will explore what it takes from a business and technical perspective to successfully collaborate and implement content services at the federal level. Letting go of control of your content, identifying the niche for your content, creating content in plain language and getting the word out about content services are a few of the themes that will be explored.
Evaluation Methods and Results: When completed, we will measure our success by analyzing product use, increased federal and external partnerships, reductions in redundant content across agencies, and the user base in storefronts.
Conclusions: These services enable HHS to ensure that content is available for use across agencies and platforms, to provide the best content from the government to the citizen.
Implications for research and/or practice: Ultimately, these services will lower the barrier for partners who want to use our content and ensure that they always have the most current content. Organizations gain free access to valuable content, media, and data resources that can be tailored to the needs of their communities.
