Speaking with One Voice about Immunizations: How the CDC and State and Local Partners and Health Departments Are Working Together to Develop and Use Effective Communication Strategies.

Tuesday, August 19, 2014: 2:15 PM-3:45 PM
Grand A/B
Effective communication often breaks down when key partners are not involved at the front end of planning, developing and executing communications strategies. The most effective efforts come from a strategic and concerted effort to involve key partners in identifying and implementing effective approaches to achieve a range of immunization communication goals. When it comes to immunization, these partners include the CDC; public information officers and immunization programs in state and local health departments; and immunization coalitions. Three panelists will describe how they are involving partners to strengthen immunization communication. They will discuss lessons learned from successful campaigns. The key partners include the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC), and immunization coalitions. Working together these organizations help ensure a single voice when it comes to immunization information and strengthen the impact on target audiences. The strategies discussed in this session should be easily transferable to any program that needs a comprehensive strategy for communicating important information to the public.
