This panel presentation will describe emerging trends, opportunities and challenges in public health vocabulary and messaging standards and how they are being addressed collaboratively in the Vocabulary and Messaging Community of Practice. Panelists will also discuss their experience in development and implementation of interoperable standards for public health meaningful use.
Since 2009, the Vocabulary and Messaging Community of Practice has been established to enable public health professional working together to share knowledge, expand their professional skills, and develop solutions to solving common public health vocabulary and messaging challenges. Vocabulary and messaging is essential in the development and implementation of consistent information exchange among public health partners. It is also play a critical role in the public health meaningful use of information technology. Discussion of emerging trends, opportunities and challenges in vocabulary and messaging standards and how they are being addressed collaboratively in the Vocabulary and Messaging Community of Practice will engage professionals working in the field of public health informatics to advance public health IT standardization. This presentation will discuss emerging trends, opportunities and challenges in vocabulary and messaging standards and how they are being addressed collaboratively in the Vocabulary and Messaging Community of Practice. Panelists will also discuss their experience in development and implementation of interoperable standards for public health meaningful use.
