The Health Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) develops Implementation Specifications that contain reusable packets of harmonized standards and vocabularies to support the increasing use of Electronic Health Records.  Several HITSP Implementation Specifications, including Biosurveillance, Case Reporting and Immunization, are specific to Public Health.  To a certain extent, all HITSP Implementation Specifications impact public health. This session will explore the operation of HITSP, discuss the developed components that are useful to public health, and explore in a bit more detail the Public Health specific HITSP documents.
