B5: Collaboration for STD, HIV, and Teen Pregnancy Prevention: Perspectives on Process, Achievements, Challenges, and Lessons Learned in California

Moderator:Danielle M. Sollers

Summary: Background/Purpose:

In response to a DASH-CDC national initiative, a collaboration work group was established to strengthen partnerships to prevent HIV/AIDS, STD, and unintended pregnancy among school-age youth.

Objectives of Symposium:

By the end of the symposium, participants will be able to summarize the benefits, challenges, and strategies of collaboration for STD, HIV, teen pregnancy, and education programs.

Implications for Programs, Policy, and/or Research:

With limited resources, overlapping priority populations, and shrinking categorical funding, collaboration among reproductive health programs is essential for enhancing effectiveness and efficiency. The presentation will assist STD programs to establish and expand collaboration with similar organizations in order to improve multiple outcomes for adolescent reproductive health.
