While PID is a reportable condition in California, passive PID surveillance is poor across the state. To better understand the gaps in PID reporting, as well as possible barriers to reporting, we designed a statewide, multi-jurisdictional survey to improving PID surveillance. We will describe the process undertaken to develop the multi-jurisdictional survey, including sampling frame, instrument design, implementation, and data analysis. Pragmatic aspects of this project will be highlighted. Our approach to assessing PID surveillance can be used as a model for state and regional efforts to improve surveillance through multi-jurisdictional collaborations.
