What is and what should be the historical legacy of the Guatemala studies?  From the perspective of the STD research community, how should the investigators be assessed?  What can we learn from this experience that will inform future clinical research. Clinical research, especially experimental clinical research, may involve putting subjects at risk .  How do we best communicate these risks in a truly informed way to subjects.  What translational lessons from Guatemala are relevant to current HIV/STD research activities?
