Tuesday, March 13, 2012: 3:15 PM-5:00 PM
Nicollet Grand Ballroom (C/D)
Background/Purpose:

The sexual health safety net is a varied system which includes Title X family planning centers, public health STD clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and Rural Health Centers (RHCs).

Objectives of Symposium:

This symposium is designed to explore commonalities and differences between Title X clinics, STD clinics, FQHCs, and RHCs.

Implications for Programs, Policy, and Research:

Many have assumed that new coverage mechanisms created through the ACA will mean greater access to providers, obviating the need for a federally funded safety net.  Understanding variations in the safety net will allow providers to more effectively participate in a new, integrated health care climate that must include a safety net.
