Background/Purpose: As STD*MIS, a CDC developed surveillance and case management tool is nearing retirement, many STD programs that have relied on this product, will need alternatives and plans for transition.

Objectives of Symposium: Provide a variety of real life examples and experiences from the field of developing and implementing STD surveillance and case management products.  Discuss advantages, challenges, decision making process and factors to consider when making investments in systems.

Implications for Programs, Policy, and Research: Robust surveillance and case management systems are crucial to assess morbidity and plan effective interventions; well implemented technology contributes greatly to this goal.
